Inovatie.md: why we built an innovation portal for Moldova

We created Inovatie.md to help people in Moldova understand technology and find tools they can use straight away. It is an ADS Moldova project: a portal combining innovation news, practical guides, software profiles, comparisons and calculators. The idea is simple: discover what is changing, understand how it can help and have a practical way to apply that information.

Working with local businesses, we regularly hear the same questions. Which software should I choose? Is another subscription worthwhile? How do I check whether advertising is profitable? Where can AI help in everyday work? Inovatie.md brings explanations, examples and tools together around those questions. Here is why we started it and what it can offer Moldova’s local market.

Why we wanted this kind of portal in Moldova

Technology announcements arrive quickly, while people’s time is limited. A shop owner, a professional handling clients and a creator building a project all need to understand where a new technology fits their work. Several steps connect hearing about a product to using it within a business, and those steps deserve an explanation.

This is the role we see for Inovatie.md: bringing information closer to a real task. The local market has its own context, including team languages, budgets, customers and currencies. We are building the platform in Romanian, English and Russian so readers can explore the material in the language they find comfortable and move towards a useful next step.

Innovation news with context

The news section follows areas including artificial intelligence, science, energy and space technology. Some innovations appear in usable products quickly. Others open a research direction that may take longer to mature. We explain what has happened, why it matters and what comes next.

The current edition includes coverage of AlphaGenome, sodium-based energy storage and the Hera mission. These are different subjects, but the questions are related: what was announced, what does it change and what should we follow? For readers in Moldova, accessible explanations offer a starting point for understanding ideas that could influence industries, professions and services in the years ahead.

Software and AI: understand the product before choosing

A familiar name does not automatically tell you whether software suits your work. Our Software & AI catalogue focuses on uses, benefits, limitations and workflows. The current profiles cover ChatGPT, Claude, Figma and Canva. Readers can filter the catalogue by category, capability and pricing model.

Someone preparing written material may care about analysis, editing and the time needed for corrections. Someone building a website needs interface design, collaboration and a clear handover to developers. In a small team, the same person may work on both. Profiles help readers understand these roles before starting a trial or paying for a subscription.

Comparisons that begin with the task

We included comparisons because choosing between tools becomes clearer when you use the same task as a reference. A document summary, an analysis, a social media asset and an interface prototype require different capabilities. Readers can compare the product information and see when it was checked.

A practical approach is to take an example from your own work and assess accuracy, exports, collaboration and correction time. The comparison provides criteria for that evaluation. For a local business, the benefit is more considered use of time and money: selecting software that fits a process and understanding the cost it adds.

Twelve calculators and a UTM builder

Tools are one of the project’s most practical areas. Inovatie.md currently includes 12 calculators and a UTM builder, grouped into marketing, finance and productivity. They cover ROI, ROAS, CPC, CPM, CTR and CPA, VAT, profit and margin, break-even, loan payments, compound interest, discounts, AI/API costs, advertising budgets and software subscriptions.

The tools explain their formulas and let readers explore scenarios. Several include CSV exports, planning from a target or comparing alternatives. The calculators are free and can be used without an account. That combination matters to us: someone can read an explanation and immediately continue with their own inputs within the same platform.

A practical path for a shop planning advertising

Imagine a shop manager preparing an offer and a campaign. They can begin with the profit and margin tool, including price, costs, fees and delivery. Next, they can explore break-even and test an advertising budget against their intended goal.

After the campaign begins, ROAS and ROI offer different ways to understand the figures. The UTM builder helps keep campaign links consistent across traffic sources. Each step answers a separate question. The useful outcome is a more organised process: you know which assumptions you made, which figures you monitor and what needs revisiting when actual results differ from the estimate.

A practical path for a professional or small team

For a freelancer, agency or team using several digital services, software expenses add up. The subscription calculator helps organise that spending and identify unused licences. The AI/API cost tool explores estimated consumption, including factors such as caching, retries and batch processing.

These calculations complement the guides and software profiles. Before introducing another product, a team can understand its capabilities, check its terms and build a cost scenario for its project. This connects innovation with everyday organisation, including in businesses where only a few people handle several roles.

Time, weather and exchange rates

We also added a daily reference area with local time, weather and market information. EUR, USD and RON exchange rates use the National Bank of Moldova as their source. The interface shows sources and update times so readers can understand which information they are consulting.

In Moldova, where services and subscriptions are often priced in foreign currencies, this is a useful reference alongside budget planning. Weather and time support everyday use. We wanted readers to have several practical reasons to return: a development to follow, a calculation to perform, software to compare or a quick piece of information before continuing their day.

What we built at ADS Moldova

For Inovatie.md, we worked on the concept, section structure, interface design, website development and interactive tools. We connected editorial content with software profiles, comparisons and calculators in a multilingual experience that can also be used on a phone.

The design uses open space, a clear hierarchy and direct access to the main categories. The screenshot in this article shows that visual direction: technology presented accessibly, with room for information and the next action. Inovatie.md joins the ADS Moldova portfolio as our own product for the local market, alongside the other platforms we develop.

Where we are taking Inovatie.md

The platform is currently in pre-launch, with content and translations under editorial review. We continue to develop its catalogue, guides and tools. As new technologies and questions appear, we want to maintain the connection between a development, an explanation and a practical use.
